LinkedIn Search Guide

Free LinkedIn search vs LinkedIn Recruiter

Compare free LinkedIn search with LinkedIn Recruiter, including filters, product limits, sourcing workflows, and the best use cases for each option.

Standard LinkedIn search supports people, jobs, posts, companies, and other result types with filters that vary by context. It is useful for networking, research, and job search, but LinkedIn applies commercial-use and Boolean-query limits to parts of the consumer search experience.

LinkedIn Recruiter is designed for candidate sourcing. It adds recruiting-specific filters, saved workflows, project features, and AI-assisted search that can translate a hiring need into structured filters. Recruiter Lite has a smaller feature set, and LinkedIn changes product availability over time, so confirm features in the plan and interface you actually use.

Practical checklist

  • Use standard search for networking, job discovery, and general research.
  • Use Recruiter when the task requires repeatable candidate sourcing and recruiting filters.
  • Check current plan documentation before promising a Recruiter Lite feature.
  • Do not present a paid Recruiter filter as a free LinkedIn feature.
